How it works

How to get MIDI into your DAW today.

1

Convert the song

Upload the finished track above. Midium splits it and turns the drums, bass and piano into MIDI.

2

Download the pack

One part’s MIDI, or the whole pack as a ZIP: every MIDI part plus each part’s audio as MP3, all starting at bar 1.

3

Drop them at bar 1

Drag the MIDI files onto instrument tracks at bar 1. If your DAW doesn’t take the tempo from the file, set it to the BPM your pack shows.

Midium plug-in Coming soon

Midium inside your DAW.

Midium inside your DAW is on its way, first for Mac. It isn’t available yet: until it is, convert here and drag the files in. This is how it will work.

1

Put it on a track

Load Midium on the track you want as MIDI. Its audio passes through untouched.

2

Capture or drop

Press Capture, go to bar 1 and press Play: the track is recorded as it plays, with nothing to export. Or drop stems into its window.

3

Convert

Mark each stem as drums, bass, keys and so on, and press Convert. The MIDI is written on your project’s tempo.

4

Drag the parts out

Each MIDI part appears in the window, ready to drag onto a track of its own.

What you get

What you download.

drums.mid
Kick, snare, hats, toms, ride and crash on their own General MIDI notes, for any drum kit.
bass.mid · piano.mid
Ready for any software instrument, with real note lengths.
stems
Drums, bass, piano, vocals and the rest as MP3s from bar 1, for audio tracks.
Why Midium

Why use Midium.

Every part at once

One upload gives the drums, bass and piano, instead of converting one clip or one line at a time.

Everything starts on bar 1

Each MIDI file and each stem in the pack begins on the song’s first downbeat, so they line up when you put them at bar 1.

Named for your project

Every file carries the song’s name and its part (…_drums.mid, …_bass.mid), so a folder of them stays tidy.

FAQ

MIDI for your DAW questions.

Is there a Midium plug-in for my DAW?

Not yet: it is coming soon, first for Mac, as an Audio Unit for Logic Pro and GarageBand and a VST3 for Ableton Live, FL Studio and Cubase.

Will the MIDI line up with the song?

Yes, when both start at bar 1 and the project runs at the song’s tempo. Each MIDI file carries that tempo, and your pack shows it, such as 123 BPM · 4/4.

Can I use my DAW’s stem separation first?

Yes. Export a stem and upload it with One instrument, or upload the full song and let Midium split it.

Does it work with Windows DAWs?

The converter here does: it runs in the browser, and the MIDI files open in any DAW on Mac or Windows.
